Jennifer Poliwka

Jennifer Poliwka, winner of the Edith Prichard Scholarship, is pursuing a masters of science in public health nursing at Johns Hopkins University. She has worked in a number of settings that spurred her interest in public health including: Uganda where she spent four months assessing a community’s needs then planning and implementing programs; New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina; and Peru where she interned as a field worker on a pilot research study for Alma Sana, Inc. The variety of experiences she’s had thus far in public health nursing have shown her the necessity of proper education in making sustainable and much needed changes in underserved, communities.
