Recipient of the Barbara L. Tate Scholarship, completed the University of Pennsylvania, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program in July 2015. During her masters of nursing program in her clinical practicum, she had the opportunity to work with underserved children, adults, and families experiencing a wide variety of mental health ailments at the Child Guidance Resource Centers. Originally from Lebanon, Maral earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from the American University of Beirut and has been working as an intensive care nurse since 2002. In 2004, she moved to the United States at the age of 23. She lived in Washington, DC for two years and then moved to California to attend graduate school. Before starting graduate school she volunteered to work as a group facilitator at Sojourn, a domestic violence shelter for women in Santa Monica, California. Maral’s career goals are to work in both non-profit organizations and private practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner treating families and individual clients from diverse backgrounds.
