Deborah Himes was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ray and Rhonda Olson. She is married to Trent Himes and has four children ages 8 through 16. Deborah graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1991. As an RN she worked on medical-surgical, medical-oncology and intensive care units. Deborah graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters degree and became board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 1996. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner in women's health from 1997 through 2008. Currently Deborah teaches undergraduate nurses at Brigham Young University and is enrolled in a nursing PhD program at the University of Utah. She is interested in researching how obtaining personalized genomic information impacts women and their health care practices. She is also interested in helping nurses be prepared to care for patients in the genomic era. Deborah enjoys Utah outdoor sports and spending time with her family.
