Dr. Edwidge Thomas is a distinguished nursing executive and healthcare innovation leader who has dedicated her career to transforming healthcare delivery and advancing nursing practice. She currently serves as Clinical Lead at Northwell Holdings, the for-profit and investment arm of Northwell Health, where she leverages her extensive clinical expertise to provide strategic guidance on clinical diligence, internal innovation, joint ventures, and intellectual property development aligned with Northwell Health's core values.
Dr. Thomas has held pivotal leadership roles in healthcare transformation initiatives. As Clinical/Executive Director at Mount Sinai Hospital's Performing Provider System, she led the strategic direction of the DSRIP Program, overseeing quality medical programs, clinical operations transformation, and equity performance initiatives to facilitate the transition to value-based payment systems. At NYU's Rory Meyers College of Nursing, she pioneered innovative care delivery models, securing a $2.9 million HRSA grant and establishing programs including nurse-managed primary care practices, mobile health services, and health literacy initiatives serving underserved populations.
Early in her career, Dr. Thomas was a founding member of Columbia Advanced Practice Nurse Associates, the first nationally recognized independent Nurse Practitioner primary care practice, garnering national media attention, including features in 60 Minutes, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
Dr. Thomas earned her BA from Rutgers University, her MS and DNP from Columbia University School of Nursing, and her MS in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Service Research from Cornell University. She completed the Wharton Nurse Leader Program and has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and inducted into the New York Academy of Medicine. She has been serving on multiple boards, including the NEF Board of Directors since 2017, Columbia School of Nursing Board of Advisors, and Community Healthcare Network’s (CHN), and maintains active clinical engagement as adjunct faculty at Columbia School of Nursing and as a clinician at Sun River Health FQHC.
