Ashley Weber, the first winner of the Cynthia Davis Sculco Scholarship, knew early in her nursing career that she wanted to be a neonatal nurse researcher. In this specialty she is pursuing a doctorate at Ohio State University while maintaining a part time position as a staff nurse in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  Her scholarship will go towards supporting her research interests that include the biological and physiological mechanisms through which family-centered and developmental care impacts neuro-developmental outcomes in premature infants. She has disseminated the knowledge she is accumulating through multiple presentations at local and regional nursing conferences including Midwestern Nursing Research Society. She is also enhancing her understanding of the conduct of research as a Research Associate in the Center for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research.
