Jenelle Zambrano


Jenelle Zambrano, awarded an NEF Scholarship, is a neonatal clinical nurse specialist serving the underserved population of Los Angeles County at Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She attended California State University for her BSN and MSN degrees.  She is now a doctoral student at Johns Hopkins University. Her focus is on improving effective communication within the neonatal interdisciplinary team. She hopes to translate her work to the different interdisciplinary teams caring for patients across the patient’s life span, ensuring that patients receive the high quality, comprehensive, cohesive, compassionate and safe care they deserve. In addition to working and studying, she is raising four children – all under the age of six.

NEF’s only purpose is to provide nursing scholarship assistance to make graduate level nursing education possible. NEF is the largest, single, private, professionally endorsed source of funds for advanced nursing study with over one hundred years of service to and for professional nursing.
