Nathan Levitt, who was awarded an NEF Scholarship, is pursuing his graduate studies in the State University of New York Family Nurse Practitioner Program at SUNY Downstate College of Nursing. He plans to dedicate his career to working in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities to develop a more expansive community vision for health care. A vision that is accessible, respectful and affirming. For seven years he’s worked at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center that serves New York’s LGBT communities and people living with HIV/AIDS. For over two years he has worked as a staff nurse at Maimonides Medical Center’s Oncology Unit in Brooklyn, New York, where he feels he has gained invaluable experience providing compassionate nursing care for terminally ill patients.

NEF’s only purpose is to provide nursing scholarship assistance to make graduate level nursing education possible. NEF is one of the largest, single, private, professionally endorsed source of funds for advanced nursing study with over one hundred years of service to and for professional nursing.
NEF’s Board of Directors is comprised of leaders from nursing, education, technology, and business communities. Members donate their time and talent to the advancement of the nursing profession. NEF operates with exceptionally low overhead. NEF employs only one individual who serves in several capacities. NEF is a non-profit organization with 501(c) status; thus, your contributions are fully tax-deductible.
