Elizabeth Myrick

Elizabeth (Beth) Myrick, PhD Candidate, MSN, AGPCNP-C, CANS, is the recipient of the 2026–2027 Isabel Hampton Robb Scholarship from Nurses Educational Funds, awarded to the doctoral degree applicant who receives the highest evaluation score. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seattle Pacific University and her Master of Science in Nursing, Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, from the University of South Alabama. She also earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington through the Master’s in Passing pathway and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Washington School of Nursing, where she is expected to graduate in 2027.

Beth's nursing career began in acute care, where she worked as a nurse technician and later as a registered nurse at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, caring for patients in cardiac telemetry, medical-surgical, and intensive care settings. These experiences strengthened her appreciation for the impact nurses have on patients and families during some of life's most vulnerable moments. Drawn to opportunities to expand her clinical practice and leadership, she pursued advanced practice nursing education and became a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.

Since 2015, Beth has practiced in aesthetic medicine and is the owner and Medical Director of Bellora Medical Aesthetics in Seattle. Through her clinical work, she has developed a passion for promoting patient safety, ethical practice, and professional standards within the rapidly evolving field of aesthetic medicine. Her experiences caring for patients and mentoring clinicians inspired her interest in nursing research and the complex ethical challenges healthcare professionals encounter in practice.

Beth chose to pursue doctoral education at the University of Washington because of its strong commitment to nursing science, interdisciplinary collaboration, and improving health outcomes through research. As a National Institutes of Health T32 Predoctoral Fellow in Omics and Implementation Science, she is developing the skills necessary to conduct rigorous research that informs practice and policy. Her dissertation focuses on moral distress among clinicians practicing in aesthetic medicine, an emerging area of inquiry that seeks to better understand how ethical challenges affect clinicians, patient safety, and workforce sustainability.

In addition to her doctoral studies, Beth serves as a preceptor and mentor for nursing students and remains actively involved in advancing education and professional development within nursing and aesthetic medicine. Her long-term goals include continuing to bridge clinical practice and research, contributing to evidence-based standards in aesthetic medicine, and preparing future nurses to navigate ethical challenges in healthcare.

Receiving the Isabel Hampton Robb Scholarship is both a tremendous honor and a meaningful affirmation of Beth's commitment to nursing scholarship. The award will support her dissertation research and continued development as a nurse scientist. She is deeply grateful to Nurses Educational Funds and the NEF Board of Directors for investing in the education of future nursing leaders and researchers.
