Eunice Bonifacemadu is honored to be the recipient of the Miriam M. Powell Scholarship from Nurses Educational Funds (NEF) for 2026-2027. Her nursing journey was influenced by her early experiences watching her father struggle with illness, an experience that gave her a deep respect for compassionate, skilled, and dependable nursing care. That personal motivation became the foundation for a career built on service, perseverance, and a desire to improve outcomes for patients and families facing difficult health challenges.

Eunice began her nursing career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, obtaining her certification through Trenholm State Community College. She then continued her education by earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from Lone Star College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Cizik School of Nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesiology at Mary Baldwin University.

Her decision to specialize in nurse anesthesiology is driven by her interest in a field that requires critical thinking, technical precision, and direct patient advocacy during some of the most vulnerable moments in a patient’s life. Through this program, Eunice is building the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, high-quality anesthesia care in a variety of clinical settings.

In addition to her academic work, Eunice remains committed to service, leadership, and support for others. Her educational journey has required resilience, discipline, and a consistent dedication to learning while balancing multiple responsibilities. She values opportunities to encourage others, contribute to her nursing community, and grow through meaningful clinical experiences. Her graduate degree will open doors to advanced practice opportunities, expanded leadership roles, and a future in which she can serve patients with greater autonomy and impact.

Receiving an NEF scholarship is a tremendous honor and a meaningful affirmation of her hard work and perseverance. It is encouragement to continue pursuing excellence and a reminder that her goals are seen and valued. Eunice is deeply grateful for this investment in her future and hopes to honor it by becoming an exemplary nurse anesthetist who serves with compassion, integrity, and excellence.
