Adrienne Thymes Leflore, MN, RN-BC, CCM, APRN-CNS is the recipient of the 2021 Cynthia Davis Sculco Scholarship. Mrs. Leflore received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dillard University and her Masters in Nursing from the Louisiana State University Medical Center, specializing in gerontological/psychiatric community health nursing with focus to administration and staff development. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with specialization in Nursing Education at the University of Alabama.  

Mrs. Leflore is licensed as an advanced practice clinical nurse specialist, certified as a Case Manager by the Commission on Case Management, and as a Gerontological Nurse by the American Nurses Association (ANA). She has functioned as an on-site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and presented at national conferences on home-based primary care and emergency preparedness. As a Quality Management Peer Curriculum Reviewer, she is eFaculty member, Certified for Teaching in Distance Education Authentic Learning by the Online Learning Consortium and the United States Distance Learning Association.

Retired from the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System as Deputy Nurse Executive, Mrs. Leflore was awarded the Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary’s Hero Award for exemplary devotion to duty and selfless personal sacrifice during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath in serving Veterans and their families. She is a recipient of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority National Educational Foundation Nancy B. Woolridge-McGee Scholarship. Her scholarship extends through her passion for teaching.

Mrs. Leflore began teaching at Dillard University as an adjunct clinical instructor in psychiatric/mental health nursing and has since expanded to teaching community health nursing and gerontological nursing in the RN-BSN program. She is a recipient of the Part-Time Faculty Member Exemplary Teaching Award. Driven by the need to bridge the gap between theory and practice, Mrs. Leflore developed an online module Psychiatric Legal Admissions and revamped the Gerontological Nursing Course to prepare students to write for ANCC certification. 

In delivering gerontological course content, Mrs. Leflore teaches successful aging through continued learning and the satisfying experience of sharing knowledge with others. This passion for educating and creating educational climates drove her to apply to a doctoral program in Educational Instructional Leadership, with the deciding factor being the exemplary cooperative interdisciplinary doctoral degree program between Alabama’s College of Education and the Capstone College of Nursing. 

Through memberships in the American Nurses Association, the National League for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, Kappa Delta Pi, Golden Key, and Omega Nu Lambda International Honor Societies, Mrs. Leflore maintains a scholarly community engagement. She is also a member of Chi Eta Phi International Nursing Sorority, Dillard University Professional Organization of Nurses, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Dedicated to the fight against COVID-19, Mrs. Leflore conducts workshops on the importance of immunization, volunteers for immunization drives, and mentors nursing students in patient care. She plans to use her doctorate by teaching on the university level as a college professor in nursing, becoming a director of an elderly non-profit, providing consultation in nursing curriculum development, and conducting educational research.
