Cherlie Magny-Normilus

Recipient of the Miriam M. Powell Fellowship, is a Professor of Nursing at Regis College and Director of Policy and Advocacy for the Regis College Haiti Project. She is the recipient of awards from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, and the Massachusetts Hospital Association Scholarship. She is the 2011 Brigham and Women’s Hospital Ujima Award recipient, a 2014 nurse.com Regional GEM Awards Program finalist, and a 2015 inductee to the Haitian Roundtable’s 1804 List of Changemakers.

After many years practicing as a critical care nurse, she shifted her focus to clinical research and to transforming Haiti’s nursing educational system. In her role as Director of Policy and Advocacy for the Regis College Haiti Project, she has been working closely with the Haitian Ministry of Health and Haiti’s State University promoting the advancement of nursing education, and the need for nursing education to be at the academic level. Her research interests focus on transitions of care and the health promotion and self-management of adults with diabetes.

She is the Discharge Advocate/Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner for the PCORI-funded study led by Dr. Jeffrey Schnipper. This study aims to design, implement, and rigorously evaluate a multi-faceted intervention to improve transitions of care from two Partners’ Hospitals to Patient-Centered Medical Homes within the Partners Pioneer Accountable Care Organization.

Professor Magny-Normilus received her A.D. in nursing from Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, her B.S. in nursing from Curry College School of Nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Regis College. She is now completing her Ph.D. in Health Promotion at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
