Winner of the Philip D. Raso Scholarship, Elizabeth Leary holds a master of science degree in nursing, management, policy and leadership from Yale University, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Yale University Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program.

Elizabeth is a nurse coordinator for the ambulatory and community health nurse executive program at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA, where she is currently working on the Medi-Cal 2020 initiative to improve care quality for medically underserved patient populations.

The focus of Elizabeth’s graduate studies is nursing images in media, where Elizabeth hopes to promote the voice of nursing leadership in health news coverage. Elizabeth is also an active member of the Association of California Nurse Leaders, where she is co-chair of the health policy committee and serves as a liaison for the voice and communications committee.

Elizabeth hopes to use her graduate education to promote the voice of nursing leadership in media, as well as to promote population health through the development of community services for medically underserved patient populations.
