The first nurse to win the Mathey Mezey Scholarship, is pursuing her doctorate at the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Her commitment to gerontology nursing is demonstrated by her research interests which focus on issues involving nursing care for older adults in acute and sub-acute care settings as well as global health issues and disparities in the health care of older adults. She has traveled to Uganda as part of a vocational training team and recently returned from Japan where she spearheaded the introduction of the Clinical Nurse Leader role as a twenty-first century approach to healthcare transformation. She is an assistant professor at Saint Anthony College of Nursing where she teaches community leadership and culturally sensitivity in relation to the care of all vulnerable populations – local and global. Gordana resides in Rockford, Illinois with her husband and twin six year old girls.
