Recipient of the Columbia University-Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, Inc./J. Margaret Ada Mutch Award, is pursuing a master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner specializing in adult/gerontology primary care with a sub-specialty in oncology from Columbia University. After receiving a BSN from the University of Texas at Austin, Jaclyn began her career as an acute care medical hematology/oncology RN in Houston, TX. Currently attending Columbia University in New York, she is also working as an infusion RN in an outpatient hematology/oncology clinic.

Jaclyn is passionate about providing evidence-based, holistic nursing care. After briefly working as a home-health aide in college, she realized that effective primary care that addresses all aspects of quality of life has the power to prevent serious illness and promote overall wellness.

Jaclyn hopes to apply her newly acquired skills as an NP in an outpatient oncology setting, specifically in cancer survivorship. High-quality primary care is extremely important for cancer survivors, especially as the incidence of cancer diagnoses increases and as more people are living longer as survivors. After working in both inpatient and outpatient oncology settings, Jaclyn brings a unique perspective to treating this patient population. In the future, she hopes to pursue a DNP degree to further develop her nursing knowledge so that she is able to influence healthcare policies on both the administrative and national levels.
