Jasline Moreno

Jasline Moreno, MSN, RN, CHSE-Advanced, CNE, is the esteemed recipient of the Barbara Tate Scholarship for the second time. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2003 and her Master of Science in Nursing in 2009, both from the University of Maryland, School of Nursing. Currently, Jasline is pursuing her PhD in Health Professions Education, with a specialization in leadership and simulation, at MGH's Institute of Health Professions School of Nursing.

Jasline's passion for nursing was ignited during her initial nursing course, Nursing Fundamentals, at the University of Maryland. Since then, she has amassed a diverse range of professional experiences. Starting as a telemetry nurse, she developed a fondness for caring for adult patients. Later, she transitioned to pediatric nursing, where she observed both similarities and differences in caring for this population. Subsequently, Jasline assumed the role of a clinical instructor, supervising students during their clinical experiences. This experience revealed her natural inclination for education, leading her to become a full-time faculty member at Montgomery College. Jasline is deeply committed to equity and strives to ensure that education is accessible to all members of society. Reflecting on her nursing career, she recognizes that each phase has prepared her for the next.

Currently Jasline holds the position of faculty lead for the Maryland Clinical Simulation Resource Consortium (MCSRC). This consortium operates as a statewide funding initiative under the Nurse Support Program II and the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Its primary objective is to enhance the quality and quantity of simulation education across Maryland. In her role, Jasline is responsible for educating nurse faculty on simulation pedagogy and providing guidance on implementing simulations using standards of best practice.

In addition to her involvement with the MCSRC, Jasline actively contributes to the nursing profession in various capacities. She serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for NLN's Nursing EDge Blog and podcast, where she shares her expertise and insights. Furthermore, Jasline holds a chair position in the membership committee of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), where she actively engages in the advancement of clinical simulation in nursing education.

Receiving the Barbara Tate Scholarship supports Jasline in her pursuit of a PhD. She is confident that her research will make significant contributions to the scientific nursing community. Her current focus of study involves exploring the lived experiences of nursing faculty as they integrate simulation into their curriculum. Through this research, Jasline aims to deepen the understanding of the impact and effectiveness of simulation in nursing education. Jasline's dedication to advancing simulation education, her involvement in professional organizations, and her commitment to scholarly research demonstrate her passion and contribution to the nursing field.

Jasline is deeply grateful for being selected as the recipient of the Barbara Tate Scholarship for the second consecutive year. The Nurses Educational Funds Board of Directors' belief in her dedication and potential in the field of nursing education inspires and motivates her to excel in all of her academic and professional endeavors.
