Laura Mood, winner of an NEF scholarship is also a two-time winner. Presently she is pursuing her doctorate at Oregon Health and Science University where she is also working as an assistant clinical professor. She is eager ito help others learn the science and art of nursing and to promote the successful transition of new nurses into the profession. Her long term goal is to be a disability studies scholar who disseminates knowledge from this emerging field within nursing science and promotes its use in nursing education.  Her PhD research is: pre and post-licensure transition to clinical nursing practice: application of a narrative life history approach to explore the experience of nursing students and new nurses with learning disabilities.

NEF’s only purpose is to provide nursing scholarship assistance to make graduate level nursing education possible. NEF is the largest, single, private, professionally endorsed source of funds for advanced nursing study with over one hundred years of service to and for professional nursing.

NEF’s Board of Directors is comprised of leaders from nursing, education, technology, and business communities. Members donate their time and talent to the advancement of the nursing profession. NEF operates with exceptionally low overhead. NEF employs only one individual who serves in several capacities.
