Mark McGraw
2012-2013 Winner | Master’s Degree
Mark McGraw, winner of the MIRIAM POWELL scholarship, has been interested in pursuing a career as a nurse anesthetist since he got his BSN from the University of Delaware. After college he entered the critical care nurse internship program at Christiana Care Health System and upon completion of his internship went to work in the emergency and trauma program where he has constant exposure to multiple patient types, complaints and illnesses. In 2007 he was recruited to join the mobile intensive care transport team, transferring the ‘sickest of sick’ to the facility for management by many of the specialties available at Christiana. He is the sole care provider for these critically ill patients outside the confines of a hospital during transport.
Support Graduate Nursing Education
Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.
NEF’s named scholarships, created with a minimum donation of $50,000, honor and memorialize nurse leaders, from Isabel Hampton Robb to Thelma Schorr to Susan Bowar-Ferres. 100% of donations help to keep NEF scholarships funded in perpetuity; organization expenses are covered by prudent management of NEF’s investments.
