Winner of the Evelyn Barclay award, Nicole Rouhana, started her career over twenty-five years ago in Saudi Arabia as a Pediatric Registered Nurse. In 1996 she returned to school at Binghamton University to get her Masters and completed a post-Masters certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner enabling her to care for adults as well as children. Now pursuing her Doctorate at Bingham University Decker School of Nursing she is expanding her interest in rural health nursing. In addition to her studies, holding the title Clinical Assistant Professor, she is Director of the Nurse-Midwifery and Perinatal Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program at SUNY at Binghamton.

Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by nurses for nurses in 1912, and since then, the organization has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to support the pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.

NEF’s named scholarships, created with a minimum donation of $50,000, honor and memorialize nurse leaders, from Isabel Hampton Robb to Thelma Schorr to Susan Bowar-Ferres. 100% of donations help to keep NEF scholarships funded in perpetuity; organization expenses are covered by prudent management of NEF’s investments.
