Kimberly S. Glassman, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAONL, FAAN, is the Dean and Professor of the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing, in New York City. Dr. Glassman spent 46 years in varied roles at New York University and NYU Langone Health.
She served most recently as the senior associate dean of academic affairs at the NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, where she also held the rank of clinical professor. In this role, she oversaw all academic programs, from BS to PhD, including curriculum development and regulatory accreditations, and taught in the graduate programs. She was the first nurse to serve as the chair of the New York University IRB.
Dr. Glassman had a 42-year career in nursing at NYU Langone Health, where she held many leadership roles, 11 years as the senior vice president and system chief nursing officer.
She held an endowed directorship as the first Lerner Director of Health promotion, the first nurse in the nation to hold such an honor.
Her current program of research focuses on nursing workforce issues, and she has published most recently on the topics of doctoral education, nurses’ experiences during the early stages of the pandemic, and post-licensure nurse residency programs.
She received her RN diploma from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, and her BSN from Hunter College. She holds a master’s degree in nursing administration and a doctorate in theory and research development from NYU Meyers. Dr. Glassman is a graduate of the Johnson & Johnson Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives at the University of Pennsylvania, a Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Executive Fellow Alum, a Fellow in the New York Academy of Medicine and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Glassman was named as an inaugural Fellow of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders in 2019, and she recently completed a three-year term on the American Academy of Nursing Fellow Selection Committee.
In her role as Dean at Sinai Phillips, she also serves as the chief executive and President of the college and holds a corporate role as the Vice President of Nursing Academic Affairs.
