Kristyn Moss is a dedicated pediatric nurse and clinical nurse educator who exemplifies compassionate leadership, innovation in practice, and a commitment to advancing nursing education. With over 20 years of experience in ambulatory care and 10 years in pediatric nursing, Kristyn brings a wealth of clinical and teaching expertise to her current role at Nemours Children’s Health in Wilmington, Delaware.

Kristyn began her nursing journey at Delaware County Community College, where she earned her associate degree in nursing. She later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Wilmington University, where she is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on nursing leadership and education. Her passion for nursing was shaped early on by her mother, also a nurse, and a deep-seated desire to care for others and support families through all stages of health and healing.

Kristyn chose her MSN program to build upon her extensive clinical background and to gain the academic foundation necessary to educate and inspire future generations of nurses. Her graduate studies are directly aligned with her current work in community-based education and workforce development initiatives. As a clinical nurse educator, Kristyn is leading innovative programs that address health equity and workforce gaps. She collaborates with Drexel University on a grant-funded medical assistant apprenticeship, helping remove financial and educational barriers for underrepresented students. She also mentors high school vocational students in medical assistant co-op programs, ensuring successful preceptorships and career advancement pathways. Her mentorship in community-based projects, such as newborn education kit distribution, reflects a broader commitment to health literacy, patient empowerment, and preventative care.

These efforts have earned her recognition as a two-time nominee for Delaware Top Nurse in Ambulatory Care, highlighting her leadership in both practice and education. Kristyn also serves on high school advisory boards to create meaningful curriculums and pipelines into health careers for youth.

Pursuing her MSN will empower Kristyn to teach at the graduate level, where she hopes to mentor aspiring nurses and influence curriculum development that reflects real-world challenges and community needs. Her ultimate goal is to use her voice and experience to be a strong advocate for nursing education and equitable healthcare access.

Receiving the NEF AJN–Thelma Schorr Scholarship is both an honor and a meaningful investment in Kristyn’s future as a nurse educator and leader. It represents the opportunity to expand her impact with patients —within classrooms, clinical sites, and communities—and to continue advancing the profession through teaching, advocacy, and service.
