Lisa Lietzke, MSN, RN, CEN, CPEN, TCRN is the recipient of the Judith G. Whitaker doctoral scholarship. Lisa earned her Master of Science in Nursing Leadership, educator track at Wilmington University in 2017. She is currently attending Wilmington University for her Doctorate in Nursing Practice.

Professionally Lisa holds multiple national certifications which include Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse, and is a Trauma Certified Registered Nurse. She holds instructor status for the American Heart Association’s BLS, ACLS, PALS, the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) courses Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, and Trauma Nursing Core Course, along with the Society of Trauma Nurses Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses Course. In 2022 she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

As a leader, she continues to be highly active in the Delaware ENA and has held board roles which include State Chapter Treasurer, and State Chapter President, and currently serves as the Delaware membership chair.

Growing up in a household with three other nurses, Lisa knew at an early age she wanted to be a nurse. Lisa’s mother who was a nurse and the strongest woman she ever met, had an exceptionally lengthy battle with cancer. Seeing her mother’s positive and unfavorable experiences as a patient reinforced her desire to provide safe, supportive, evidence-based quality care for people within all levels of health and illness. Lisa’s early clinical experience includes working as a psychiatric nurse, and case manager. Her last 20 years have included adult emergency nursing, labor, and delivery, finally finding her passion for education while working as a pediatric emergency nurse. She began working as a clinical nurse educator in 2015 supporting a pediatric emergency department at Nemours Children’s Health in Wilmington, Delaware. Once starting her role as a professional development nurse educator, she designed and coordinates a pediatric emergency nurse new graduate residency. Growing new nurses and seeing all levels of experienced nurses achieve their professional goals is one of the best parts of my job. Lisa also functioned as an adjunct nursing instructor for the Delaware Technical Community College, and the University of Delaware.

Lisa’s long-term professional goal includes retaining her role in nursing professional development as an educator to support further academics and becoming future full-time nursing faculty. Nurses are essential and nursing education needs to evolve to meet the challenges in our ever-changing environment.
